i don't have much experience with roe but I think if the water is fast it's better to use roe bags. I've seen people put roe into the hook loop or whatever it's called, the same as you would with wool. That only applies to calmer water I think.
When Tyee King gets back from fishing I'm sure he'll help you out.
Hi drifting,i just came back from the vedder,a lot of nice chromer around.regarding about procure roe,use a piece in to the bait loop, then the excess piece will hook on to the hook itself, but that is for slower current .For faster current ,is better use roe sack,it will last a lot longer at the fast current..Hope you catch a lot of fish. :Tight line
Ya roe bags are the way to go. i use to have the problem of it falling off but with roe bags it rarely falls off, well i guess it depens were ur fishing too fast water or slow water
Can you tell me what is the difference between procure and borex cure???do you prefer cure it by cutting into pieces or cure the whole big piece..Thanks
The differance between just borax and procure is that procured stuff make the roe very rubbery and tough to withstand alot more fishing time than just straight boraxed roe.I always cut my roe into small hook size chunks, say the size of a toonie, procure using the brine method, let dry and the next thing you know it's fish on!It's all I use and I swear by it.
